Smoking has been associated with a number of health issues such as cancer, heart disease, stroke, and others. Those who smoke cigarettes expose their lungs and other body parts to the harmful effects of tobacco. It Causes Pre-Mature Wrinkles

Cigarette smoke has carbon monoxide that displaces oxygen in the skin and nicotine that decreases blood flow. As a result, the skin will look dry and discolored. Also, nicotine causes vasoconstriction, a condition characterized by the narrowing of the blood vessel and limiting oxygen-rich blood flow to the vessels around the face and other body parts. With this condition, wounds don’t heal quickly and can lead to scars looking bigger and redder than those caused by other conditions. Moreover, tobacco smoke has other chemicals that can destroy the body’s collagen and elastin, causing premature facial wrinkles. These fibres are responsible for the skin’s elasticity and strength. It Causes Wrinkles and Eye Bags

Crow’s feet, the wrinkles that occur on the outside of the eyes tend to develop earlier than normal because of smoking. Smokers can also have bags under their eyes because of the possible effect of smoking on their sleeping habit. Studies show that smokers tend to experience less deep sleep than non-smokers. A lack of good sleep can lead to the development of eye bags.

It Causes Hair Thinning and Hair Loss

Some experts say that smoking makes hair thinner and more fragile. While they may not be sure how exactly cigarettes can cause hair loss, it is believed that smoking is likely to cut off oxygen to the hair in the same way it does to the skin.

The hair grows from follicles, which are sac-like structures underneath the scalp. Follicles need nutrients and oxygen to function properly and promote hair growth. However, as smoking minimizes the amount of oxygen and nutrients that get to the skin, these follicles are compromised, affecting the health of the hair. Normal hair growth is disrupted that in turn leads to hair thinning and hair loss.
